PED 160 - The History of Sport

Your assignment:

There are many things that make the career path you choose to go into interesting to you, this assignment will show me something that is of interest to you and allow you the opportunity to learn more about this topic. You are to choose any sport, physical activity, governing body, time period, event, or person of interest to research further. You will prepare a presentation to share your research with the class.  I have included a list of possible topics and you are free to choose one not included, just let me know what it is beforehand.  You will create a one page note sheet (typed) and a PowerPoint presentation (5-10 slides in length) to present to the class.  We will schedule these presentations at the end of our history unit.

Possible topics:

Any sport (pickleball, archery, lacrosse, gymnastics, basketball, etc.), recreation, adapted PE, YMCA, playground movement, intramurals, governing bodies (AAU, NCAA, NFHS, AAHPERD, NAGWS, etc.), time periods (Spartans, roman republic, medieval Europe, etc.), Olympic games, collegiate sports for men or women, Famous Person (Milo of Kroton, John Locke, Jay Nash, Luther Gulick, Delphine Hanna, etc.), Title IX……

College Research, summarized

For an assignment like this, you are NOT writing a book report.  You are picking a topic you like, learning more about it, making new connections, and sharing that learning with others.
