American Sign Language (ASL)

Library research guide to ASL resources.

Welcome

Hello:

This guide is to help you with researching American Sign Language (ASL) topics. Here you will find tips and suggestions for finding articles, ebooks/books, videos, and web resources. Also you will find links to commonly used research tools, e.g., citation formatting guides.

If you need assistance with your research you can contact me through the information on my librarian profile. If you need immediate research help try the "Ask-A-Librarian" chat which can be found on the side tab "Need Research Help?"

Information for Students and Faculty

As your subject librarian I specialize in finding resources in this area. I work with both students and faculty.

Students:

  • I can help you find credible articles, ebooks/books, and web sites, for your course assignments.
  • Show you how to find peer-reviewed articles.
  • Let you know about our Library's services, e.g., textbook reserves, "Ask A Librarian" chat reference, interlibrary loan (ILL).
  • You can make an appointment with me. Both in-person and online appointments are available.

Faculty:

  • You can schedule an in-person or online research session for your course. Instruction can be provided online synchronously through Blackboard Collaborate or ZOOM. Or, asynchronously through videos and tutorials that students can access through Blackboard. These latter options are great for courses that are tight on time; they can be placed at point-of-need in your course.
  • Need a customized research guide for your course, or assignment? I can create one for you to use with online or face-to-face courses.
  • Need help finding articles, using our databases, interlibrary loan (ILL), or to discuss instruction options? You can make an appointment with me. Both in-person and online appointments are available.
  • I select the Library's resources for this subject area. Your suggestions for ebooks/books, databases, and research tools, are welcome!
  • For your department/program, you can schedule an information session, in-person or online, on our Library's resources and services.
