Information Literacy Faculty Toolkit

Using Databases (with Research Log)

This activity shows students how to match their information needs and search strategies to appropriate search tools. In this case, students are learning how to find and use academic databases in order to locate resources that are relevant to their academic research assignment.

Selecting Databases (Google vs. Primo)

This lesson assumes a “flipped” classroom scenario. Students do a search activity as homework in order to participate in a class discussion/activity. Use this lesson when you are helping students learn how to distinguish between resources in order to select sources for their research.
