About this guide
The purpose of this guide is to help you get familiar with the various resources that the Library has to support study in Health Sciences. The Library's home page is sunybroome.info, which can be accessed directly at that address, or through MyCollege or the SUNY Broome home page. The home page serves as a portal to the Library's resources and services.
This guide also has pages listing a variety of resources for other courses of study in the Health Sciences division.
Resources and services
Catalog
You can use the catalog Quick Search box on sunybroome.info to find articles, journals, books, media and more in the Library's collections. You can do basic keyword searches and use the catalog's tools to refine the results. You can search by title or author as well.
Databases
Most of the Library's information for health and medicine is stored in various databases, so you should get familiar with these and how to use them. You can use the Articles by Subject link to find databases for Health and Medicine. There is a list of databases with a short description for each.
Services
In addition to its collection of resources, the SUNY Broome Library offers many valuable services to students. You can ask questions online 24/7. If you're starting a paper, you can schedule a consultation with a librarian to start you off on the right path. If you have a group project or a study group, you can reserve study room online. All of these resources and services are here for your benefit. Look for ways to take advantage of them.
