Accessing SUNY Broome Library's E-Resources

When remotely accessing the Library's e-resources, you will get a SUNY Broome dialog box asking for your SUNY Broome (mycollege) username and password.

Searching Primo (Library's Discovery Tool)

Starting from the Library's home page

  • go to the "advanced search"

Some Searches and Strategies Using Primo (Library's Discovery Tool)

Starting from the Library's home page

  • go to the "advanced search"
  • (see graphic above)

 

  • Primo subject search results for: You Can't Take It With You
  • Primo any field search for:  "you can't take it with you"   (use quotes around the phrase)
    • you may get a lot of results for estate planning, to help narrow these out:
      • on your search results page, scroll down until you see on the left side "subject"
        • open up "show more" and select subjects that interest you
          • sometimes one or two at a time works best
          • (see graphics in search example below)

 

 

  • Primo any field search results for: "george s kaufman"     (use quotes to search as a phrase)
  • Primo any field search results for: "moss hart"     (use quotes to search as a phrase)
  • refine these searches:
    • The following graphics show you how you can refine these two searches using the subject limiter
      • the example below is for George S. Kaufman (you can apply the same strategy for Moss Hart)

  • use quotes around phrases
    • "reception history"
    • "character study" 
    • interpretation
    • review
    • "theater review"    note: also just try review
    • analysis
    • criticism
    • playwright names, e.g., "George S Kaufman", "Moss Hart"
