Accessing SUNY Broome Library's E-Resources

When remotely accessing the Library's e-resources, you will get a SUNY Broome dialog box asking for your SUNY Broome (mycollege) username and password.

Search Primo, the Library's discovery tool, accessible from the Library's home page.

  • How to Find a Book  (includes directions for interlibrary loan, in case the Library doesn't have it/access to it)

Some Search Tips

  • Looking for a work by your favorite author or poet?
    • starting from the Library's home page, select Primo's "Advanced Search"
    • on the "Advanced Search" page select "Books and More"
    • in the search box, in the first search line, change "Any field" to "Author/Creator"
    • then enter the person's name
    • search
    • note: if your search doesn't yield results try the name as an "Any field" search
    • after selecting your book from your search results
      • check to see if it's available
      • write down the call number (or print page)
      • note where the book is located in the Library, e.g., circulating books, new book display, children's collection
      • some books may be ebooks - follow links to access
  • Looking for poetry, fiction (novels, short stories), essays, or letters?
    • starting from the Library's home page, select Primo's "Advanced Search"
    • on the "Advanced Search" page select "Books and More"
    • in the search box, in the first search line, change "Any field" to "Subject" 
    • enter the genre you are looking for, for example:
      • poetry
      • fiction
      • short stories
      • essays
      • personal correspondence
      • letters
    • and, if you have a favorite author, you can include them in another search box
      • on another search line, change "Any field" to "Author/Creator"
      • then enter the person's name
    • and, if you have a topic you would like to search on you can include it in another search box
      • on another search line, using "Any field" enter your topic
    • search
    • note: if your search is not yielding results:
      • open up subject searches to any field
      • use less search terms
      • try the name in a different format, e.g., "tom smith", "tom andrew smith"
    • after selecting your book from the search results
      • check to see if it's available
      • write down the call number (or print page)
      • note where the book is located in the Library, e.g., circulating books, new book display
      • some books may be ebooks - follow links to access
  • Looking for children's books?
    • starting from the Library's home pageunder "Find" select the "Books and Media" link
    • on the following page you will find a link to "Children's books"
    • then you can browse here, or,
    • if you want to narrow the search to a specific author: 
      • to the right of the search box (top of page) click on "Advanced Search"
      • go to the second line of the advanced search box
        • then change "Any field" to "Author/Creator"
        • enter the person's name
    • after selecting your book
      • check to see if it's available
      • write down the call number (or print page)
      • note where the book is located in the Library, e.g., Children's Collection (1st floor in reference room)
